Unveiled: Forging a Path for Young Artists

On Tuesday, April 2th, 2019 from 6:30PM – 8:30PM, The Beehive ’s co-owner and resident curator, Jennifer Epstein, alongside guest curator, Jessica Curran will present the 29th installment in the South End landmark’s continuing art series, Sting! entitled, "Unveiled."  This exhibit features the work of eight emerging female artists from the greater Boston area, including three talented high school artists employed by the Artists for Humanity program. Artists represented include Ana Loor, Ariel Freiberg, Danielle Robbins, Marisa Adesman and Rebecca Greene, along with visionary student artists, Madeline Murphy, Ananda Toulon, and Yajun He.

"Unveiled" highlights eight local female artists with diverse perspectives and backgrounds, whose work when pieced together share the message of female empowerment in its many forms and the beauty that radiates from the creations of inspiring new voices in the Boston art community. The show focuses on bringing women of all ages and skill levels together to challenge, encourage, and praise each other in celebration, and build off one another’s unique visions to further explore their creativity and professional goals as artists.

The Beehive is taking this opportunity to demonstrate to Boston's youth that the pathway to becoming an artist in its many forms is a noble road to walk. They hope this inspires the coming generation to follow their ambitions to create an all-encompassing and accepting creative space for any human that wishes to reside in it, no matter the circumstance. With this GoFundMe Campaign, they intend to contribute money to Artists for Humanity in hopes that the funds may supply a teenager's artistic endeavors where money may have otherwise been a roadblock.

More information about Artists For Humanity, Inc.  (Afh): Founded in 1991, Artists For Humanity's (AFH) mission is to bridge economic, racial, and social divisions by providing underserved urban youth with the keys to long-term economic and personal self-sufficiency through paid employment in art & design. Our mission is built on the philosophy that creativity is a powerful vehicle for social change, and that creative entrepreneurship is a productive and life-changing opportunity for young people and their communities. AFH utilizes four strategies to realize our mission by offering youth: (1) the respect and responsibility of paid employment that promotes self-esteem and workforce readiness; (2) a safe, meaningful place where teens develop important mentoring relationships; (3) educational enrichment that supports and encourages high school graduation and post-secondary education; and (4) an opportunity to be part of a creative community where they collaborate to produce custom client commissions and public exhibitions.
