Jake and Kristie Unterseher were married in 2011 and live just outside of Grand Forks, North Dakota with their three children: Jakob (3.5), Gemma (2), and Maximilian (Born Jan 14th).
On January 25, 2016, Jake and Kristie received the news that Jake had a large mass in his testicle. Three days later, he was diagnosed with Stage 3 Testicular Cancer. On January 29th, Jake had his testicle removed along with the tumor, which measured 12cm.
Further testing revealed that the cancer had spread throughout his abdomen and lungs. Jake will begin a series of Chemo treatments on February 29th. While Testicular Cancer is highly treatable, the treatment schedule is very rigorous, requiring a lot of chemo in a short amount of time. This will put a great strain on their family, making it difficult for Jake to work and help care for their children.
Your support will be greatly appreiciated by the Unterseher Family and provide for their needs in many ways. Your generosity will cover the cost of their medical bills, regular living expenses, and extra costs required in order to care for Jake during his treatments over the next 3-5 months.
The Untersehers are asking for the intercession of Michelle Duppong, a former FOCUS Missionary and teammate of Jake. Michelle fought an intense battle with cancer and passed away this past Decemeber. Her love of Jesus Christ throughout her life and her patient suffering made a great impact on all she knew. Join them in offering the following prayer daily:
"Through the Most Sacred and Merciful Heart of Jesus,
The intercession of Immaculate Mary, Queen of Peace and Victory, and the intercession of your faithful servant, Michelle Duppong,
We place the Unterseher family in the healing wounds of Jesus Christ.
Through the power of the Holy Spirit, eliminate, Lord, every cancerous cell from Jake's body, heal every ill-effect of this disease, and restore Jake to perfect health.
Bestow upon this entire family the grace of faith and hope to conquer all discouragement in this hour of temptation.
Father of Lights, by the Mystery of Your Goodness, pierce through the dark veil of this moment of uncertainty to reveal Your Presence, and may this family and all who accompany them on this journey be given an abundance of life and laughter.
