Unprovoked leaves LGBTQ M for dead

A man was left for dead in a vicious street attack.
Carl Johnson was left with a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain when he was set upon in the street in Rochdale. The 25 year-old remains in hospital with serious injuries following the unprovoked attack in the early hours of Sunday. His brother has now spoken out about his family’s heartache and released a picture of Carl in his hospital bed. Carl, originally from the Salem area of Oldham, recently moved to Rochdale.
Carl was at a specialist brain injury unit at Salford Royal Hospital. They knocked Carl to the floor before punching and kicking him as he lay defenceless on the ground.and a bleed on the brain, as well as a broken jaw, hand and ribs. He has briefly spoken to police, but his memory of the brutal assault is hazy.
Carl’s family suspect it may have been a homophobic hate crime. Police have now said they are not treating it as such
Mark, who lives in Huddersfield, told the M.E.N: “It’s just been devastating for all of us. My mum especially has taken it very hard.
“We just can’t fathom why someone would do something like that to him.
“He’s the softest, kindest person you would ever meet. He wouldn’t hurt a fly".
“He actually rang me that night to tell me he loved me".
“When I was on my way to hospital I was thankful we’d had that conversation in case anything went fatally wrong.
“He’s very lucky to be alive. We don’t how long his recovery will take, it could take a month, it could take six months or longer.” We are Holsing a Charity fundrasing event for Carl Friday 8th September at Austerlands Cricket Club from 9pm, OL43QW.
Carl would Like HALF of all the money raised to go to lgbt.foundation and the other half to mind.org.uk as a thank you to his brother Mark who has struggled with mental health issues most of his adult life resuling in suffering a nervous break down at the start of this year.
