Unlucky Seven Goes to Con!

Donation protected
Unlucky Seven is my self-published novel.

It's been a very long road getting to this point.  What started as a serious story meant to be an ongoing comic turned into a more serialized piece which (after much editing and pruning of hedges) turned into a novel.  It's a genre piece about slackers with superpowers, poking fun at the tropes of comic book culture.

It was difficult at best to describe this to prospective publishers and literary agents. It was even more difficult to convince them that it was a good project to back. The publishing world still sees the comic book fiction market as a niche when, thanks to the movies, it is continually becoming more and more popular with people of all ages.

This being the case, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I've taken the main steps in the process via Amazon and CreateSpace. The book is a very real very purchasable thing thanks to the power of the internet.

The real challenge of self-publishing is self-promotion. Visibility of the book is primary. While I'm doing what I can on Facebook and Twitter, it's still tough to reach that all-important target demographic beyond one's immediate friends list.

Your contributions will go toward physical, real-deal marketing of the book in the best forum for it: Comic Con.

I'll be starting with Steel City Con  in Pittsburgh, PA (my hometown) on December 5, 6 and 7 with ambitions to go on to future cons to continue promoting.

Money earned will go toward book inventory for these shows as well as the production of merch such as pins, t-shirts, bookmarks and art cards. There may be other merch in the future but this is what I have slated for now.

Your contribution will help to take Unlucky Seven from just another self-published novel to potentially the next big franchise.  It brings the fun and the funny and needs your support to grow beyond its bounds.  Think of the hipster cred you can gain by saying you liked it before it was cool!

I'll be posting progress leading up to SCC on my blog at jpbidula.com as well as my normal uber-nerd rantings and ravings.  You might like them.  They're funny.

Rewards as follows:
