WHAT IS UNGANISHA?
UNGANISHA is Swahili for 'connect’, and connection is the sociocultural focus of this extraordinary project. It is a theatrical journey through nine dance genres created on the diverse continent of Africa – Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Salsa, Samba, Capoeira, AfroCaribbean and AfroCuban.
WHO IS UNGANISHA?
Created in 2006, Woezo Africa Music & Dance Theatre has served as a platform for African Arts and Artists in Edmonton and Calgary, and we are dedicated to the visibility, representation and preservation of African heritage in Canada. We achieve this through educational programming, community outreach initiatives, artistic workshops, creative performances, and the curation of and participation in citywide festivals, and private and corporate events. UNGANISHA 2019 features the extraordinary talents of local dancers, actors and choreographers.
WHERE IS UNGANISHA?
UNGANISHA will be at the Martha Cohen Theatre on February 2nd, 2019. There are TWO live performances – 2pm & 7pm – and a mid-afternoon Cultural Fair from 330pm to 630pm.
