Unexpected Medical Emergency Bills

 My dad Surinder Singh (58 years old) arrived in Winnipeg, Canada on May 15th 2018 to visit me as I was still recovering from a not at fault major accident occurred on October 11th 2017 (I have been on Employment Insurance paid by MPI from the date of accident until April 29th 2018). During their visit he was doing great until June 13th 2018, when he started having some issues in his stomach. We went to the walk-in clinic in St. Norbert where the Doctor right away recommended us to visit St. Boniface emergency. At St. Boniface hospital, they admitted my dad and his situation was getting worse (Difficulty breathing and his stomach swell from 44” to 53”), doctor’s decided to do surgery on his stomach on June 18th 2018. Also stated that chances are less to survive. Surgery was successful and they removed a part of large intestine from stomach. Even after the surgery infection was still growing and then they performed another surgery on his stomach and kept in ICU for 4 days. Total number of days spent in hospital were 56. The total Expenses (before insurance) Hospital bills so far Invoice 1+2: $176,823.00+ $131, 328.00=$308,151.00 After Insurance paid $100,000.00 (photo attached in comments) on august 13th 2018 to hospital Total bill for St. Boniface hospital facility comes to $208,151.00 We are still waiting for bills from: • Expenses of Surgeries. • Physician (Surgery and Check-ups) • Anaesthesia Specialist/Radiologist/Pathologist.
