UMU Revitalization Effort

Donation protected
My name is Justin Gilbert and I am a graduate student at Arizona State University School of Herberger Institute. My capstone project deals with the revitalization of the Ute Language, which is near extinction.  Native Americans have faced great adversity when it comes to their culture and language. My goal is to help restore the Ute language.

I created UMU,  a multi-sensory matching game that teaches Ute language in a fun and interactive way for beginners. Every aspect of the game has a tie to the Ute culture. There is also a website to connect with the game, which allows players to hear the correct pronunciation of the Ute words. It is my hope that through the UMU game Ute tribal members will be able to have a new way of learning the Ute language on and off the reservation. I would use the funds to produce the packaging and develop the card games.

I appreciate any and all donations to see my project through.
