Umass Dartmouth-Rose's Battle

Rose is a staff member here at Umass Dartmouth's dining services. She currently works at the Marketplace and is always making fresh warm chocolate chip cookies. I've spent the past year getting to know Rose, seeing how much she loves the job, watching all the students talk to her. Today I found out something that broke my heart. Rose's husband has been in the hospital for about a year and a half after suffering a heart attack. She told me that recently he has finally been able to respond and move his arms a little and open his eyes. From my understanding Rose's husband has a tracheostomy that helps him to breathe.  I am hoping to help Rose out and take a little bit of stress off her shoulders with everything going on. She asked the dining hall for an extra half an hour this year even with all of this going on in her life. Rose still puts on a brave face and shows us her loving smile each day. I know I don't speak for myself when I say Rose is a sweet, kind, and caring lady. The students of Umass D love Rose!
