The Campus Kitchen at the University of Houston the 49th chapter of the Campus Kitchen Project, and we were founded in the fall of 2015. As part of the Bonner Leaders Program, we directly serve the residents at New Hope Housing, a nonprofit organization focused on providing affordable housing for Houstonians in the Third Ward.
We recover excess food, that otherwise would be wasted, from our two on-campus dining halls, deliver them to our partner's three locations, and serve the residents warm, nutritious meals after a long day's work. We absolutely love what we do and are continually recovering from and expanding to new locations.
So far, we have recovered over 23,000 lbs of food which approximately translates to 46,000 meals!
Thank you for taking the time to understand our mission. Please spread the word. Every action and thought makes a huge impact!
