Together, we represent Winooski High School, Mount Mansfield Union High School, South Burlington High School, Champlain Valley Union High School and Bellows Free Academy. We have grown to love music through the Vermont Youth Orchestra Choir, the Vermont All State Music Festivals, and the New England Music Festivals.
Dr. Jerry Blackstone, a Grammy Award Winning Choral Conductor and a prominent professor at University of Michigan, has invited us to join in the choir of Mozart's Requiem under his baton at Carnegie Hall's Masterworks Festival on June 13th, 2016. Singing Mozart's ultimate masterpiece in Carnegie Hall is a dream come true, and it is an opportunity we most certainly cannot miss. Aside from learning this difficult yet rewarding music (with the help of Caleb Pillsbury, the conductor of VYOC), we as Vermont students coming from modest backgrounds must raise the daunting yet necessary funds to participate in the choir.
Admittance costs $750 per student, yet we have been able to lower the amount needed by each student to $250 through sympathetic donors. With one student already fully sponsored from his school, we as an entire group require $2250, which is simply fantastic!
Anything helps towards our goal of $2250. Please help us seize this tremendous and life -changing opportunity. If you have any questions, please contact our choir director, Mr. Pillsbury, at [email redacted]
Thank you, and remember:
