Caleb's Uganda charity run
About: In June 2018, myself and 28 other students from Chellaston Academy (Derby, UK) will be travelling to Kampala, Uganda for the 12th time in our school's history. We will be here for 3 weeks providing aid and support in some of the most deprived areas known to East Africa such as Mengo. In order to help fund my trip i will be running the Derby half marathon on June 3rd 2018.
Aims: We aim to help maintain and improve our two orphanges that we have built in previous years ( JDH and MYDEL house). Click here for more on the JDH and MYDEL house .These two houses combined look after and provide education to 122 former street children, many of whom sufffer from AIDS. We will also be volunteering at Kampala street centres, visiting the handicapped centre and our partner baby orphanage, and doing clothes drops in some of East Africa's worst slums.
Who will benefit: We hope to improve the lives of the young children of Kampala to ensure that they do not have to go homeless again, as well as giving them the support to build a future for themselves through education. This trip will also benefit us as students as it is an unforgetable and humbling learning experience that is valuable to have in life.
