The Walk NC to DC

Tax deductible
Greetings Potential Donors:

Citadel of Faith Christian Fellowship (CFCF) and the Martin Luther King Social Action Committee (MLK-SAC) invites you to become a sponsor of supporting our walker (Bishop George B. Jackson) in a 273 mile, 14 day walk from Belhaven, North Carolina to Washington, DC.  This is a bipartisan grassroots movement to petition Congress to pass measures to ensure the sustainability of rural hospitals in America.  The Walk will begin on June 1, 2015 in Belhaven, North Carolina and end on June 15, 2015 on the US Senate lawn in Washington, DC.  Rural healthcare is a matter of life and death. People die when that “golden hour” is exhausted and when people have to drive 40, 50 or 60 miles to get to an emergency room, they will not make it. This is truly a matter of life and death.  Realizing you are a nutritional health corporation we are asking if you will help sponsor us.

The primary source of funding is from sponsors like yourself, as we will not receive any government funding for this event.  We are trying to raise $3000 that will help our walker in the following:

1)     Lodging each night for walker after a 20 mile daily walk for 14 days

2)     Meals each day for walker for 15 days

3)     Transportation for walker to return to Thomasville, NC after walk to Washington, DC

MLK-SAC is a social action organization formed in 1993 which is the social apparatus of Citadel of Faith Christian Fellowship, to help build the beloved community in whatever capacity we can.  We have an annual MLK Oratorical contest in January where to-date we have given over $82,000 to local high school juniors and seniors for scholarships.  We have been involved in peace conferences, workshops, and walks.  We have fed elderly and low income families and have future endeavors in retooling and retraining veterans coming home from Afghanistan and Iraq.  You can find more about us at www.mlksac.com .

Thank you in advance for your consideration in this matter.   If you need any further information about this event go to http://thewalknctodc.com/.  We like to thank you again for your donation and your support as we strive together to help build a “beloved community”.

 Grace and Peace,

Citadel of Faith & Martin Luther King Social Action Committee
