Charlie Brown

Charlie was born with a chronic illness called Cystic Fibrosis which is a rare genetic disease found in about 30,000 individuals in the U.S. and it affects the lungs, pancreas, and other organs.  It causes mucus in various organs to become thick and sticky. This leads to lung infections and eventually, respiratory failure in the lungs, poor digestion, and problems in the reproductive system.

Charlie was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at age 2 and has always been happy, active and coughing (haha).  He is probably the strongest person I know, his will to live and be strong gives us a reason to look at the world as a shiny new penny.  He has always been optimistic and carefree, living each day to its fullest. But today, my heart is in pain hearing Charlie grasping for air and having him rushed via ambulance to the hospital for an emergency procedure to place a tube in his chest due to another collapsed lung. Its hard knowing there is nothing you can do on this earth except pray. My faith is strong, however Charlie’s lungs continuing to collapse has the CF doctor asking the question of a double lung transplant.  We are not ready for this mentally, physically and lastly, financially.  I am not a person to ask for help, however, I need help in every day life. Chronic illnesses are not for poor people, the cost for being sick places all our dreams on hold.  We are making sacrifices and will make additional life changes to afford the medicines for Charlie to survive.  I hope you can give with an open loving heart to help us out.
