Franky Jr, creation for MUGEN
As some of you may know, character creation is not a simple thing to do even when the sprites are provided.
In my case, I hand draw the sprites to resemble the original work as closely as possible. The scale of the sprites is quite small, so mimicking the detail takes some time. I also, brainstorm originality into move sets and set my sights on FUN, spectacle and uniqueness in the programming.
All these challenges take time. When you have a family time is very important. So for all of my fans who are constantly awaiting new characters, this is the reason for the slowdown of my releases.
That is why I had to step away from something I loved to do, because the work is time consuming, and I’m a bit of a perfectionist who becomes consumed with getting everything just right.
An exception has always been my sponsored designs. When creations are sponsored then I feel the time is justified and that is why I’m letting the community and fans collectively sponsor my creations going forward.
Remember, Franky Jr. will not be the last character to be released if all goes well. Thanks everyone for reading and let’s get these creations rolling!!!
About your supporting idea after releasing Frankenstein Jr...I don't think this would be a good idea. I tried to £10.00 for your donation....kind of. I'm truly sorry but, why don't you put a beta release on Frank Jr. in this February? P.S. I heard Vinnie wanted you to make Princess Jasmine as his donation. Do you accept to make Princess Jasmine (Disney) as Beanfan's donation?
Derrick, one thing you need to do is post something on the Mugen Guild Forums talking about your fundraiser. That way It'll help get these fundraisers noticed in the Mugen community so people that want to see these characters make it through development fund them. Its a lot better than just having the announcement on your website where very few people see and know about it. Hope all goes well!
$1000 seems a bit much for a character to be developed for Mugen. I do know that you're trying to go full time on these characters and still being able to provide for your family but the goal seems to intimidate people easily making them hesitate to donate. Maybe if this funded both your projects Frank Jr. and Hong Kong Phooey it wouldn't intimidate people as much to want to donate. But thats just a suggestion.
To: George Goodlake I heard that requesting to do a character alone it's very expensive would cost like 500$ or 700$ (I consulted DDR the prices to sponsor a character). If he can afford 500$ he could do it. I don't think 10$ would be enough to sponsor a character requested by someone
