"BE the whale" project is a nationwide scholarship program focusing on raising awareness of endangered species.
The project targets all endangered whales, all endangered cats, several additional mammals, birds, fish, insects, reptiles and amphibians. One endangered animal has been chosen to represent each state.
High school art students in each state will be invited to submit art work depicting the animal chosen for their state. The winning student will receive a $1,000 college scholarship.
Promotional items such as T-shirts, prints and coffee mugs will be available on the bethewhale.com website and "BE the whale"on facebook. A portion of all proceeds from the project will be donated to various endangered species projects across the country.
