Brain Cancer Medical Expenses

My name is Belinda Garza and I started this GoFundMe page for my beautiful daughter-in-law, Valerie Martinez Ortega.
On July 29, 2018, my son and daughter-in-law were married in Holy matrimony in the most beautiful, elegant wedding ever.The beginning of a beautiful fairytale. Just a few short months later, that beautiful fairytale began to take a turn for the worse. Valerie began experiencing severe unusual headaches, not just ordinary headaches, something felt terribly wrong! She scheduled a doctors appointment and requested to have an MRI done. It was then that the results revealed inflammation on the front right side of her brain. She was urged to go to MD Anderson in Houston as soon as possible where she was later diagnosed with a Anaplastic Astrocytoma brain tumor. " This can't be!" Imagine the devastation! Recently married and hoping to start a family soon and receiving this terrible news. Their lives were turned inside out! After evaluating her prognosis, the next step was surgery to try to remove as much of the tumor as possible but because of the location of the tumor, we knew there were many risks. The day of the surgery family & friends sat quietly in the waiting room praying and waiting to hear from the surgeon. Almost 5 hours later we are told "shes out of surgery and doing well".
( "Thank you Jesus"). However, because of the sensitivity & location of the tumor, they were unable to completely remove all of it therefore she had to undergo 6 weeks of proton radiation to prevent the tumor from growing or spreading followed by monthly chemo and monthly MRI's. Valerie is continuing her cancer treatment through chemotherapy and radiation and has a long road to recovery. She remains Strong, Faithful, and Positive . She is a Fighter and a Warrior! She is my "Wonder Woman"
As with any other illness, the emotional and financial toll of fighting brain cancer can be an enormous burden. The expense of medical and prescription expenses, travel costs, lodging, can be financially difficult even with health insurance. This is why I am turning to family & friends to please help with the financial support needed during this difficult time. Any donation will be greatly appreciated , no donation is too small.
