Medical Expenses for Muriel

Donation protected
Muriel is going through treatment for Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL),  a rare type of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.  Thankfully she is currently in remission but there is a strong possibility the disease will come back. Muriel is exploring treatment options that will possibly prevent the disease from coming back.

We are Jeremy and Caitlin Marinos. Muriel is Caitlin's mom.  All donations will go directly to Muriel.

Because of how rare MCL is there are few options for finding specialists. Muriel has decided to go to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Austin Texas. Donations are needed to cover expenses for her trip, possibly follow up trips, medical treatments and medications, deductible, and insurance premiums.  Below is her estimated expenses:

- Expenses related to trip to MD Anderson Houston- appointment and follow-up appointment with caregiver- $2600
- Lodging at hospital, expenses, ground transportation- $2100
- Insurance deductible and co-pay- $12,700
- Uncovered treatment- $4,800
- Insurance- $7,000
- Uncovered medications and supplements- $900
- Home assistance, care and other costs- $4100

--Total: $34,200

Here is an update on May 16 from Muriel:

"For those of you who have been following my cancer journey, I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is I am in complete remission. The bad news is that they don't expect the remission to last long and I need a stem cell transplant. I took a trip to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Austin and got to have an appointment with the head of their Mantle Cell Lymphoma team. They had much more knowledge and experience than anyone I could see here and said that without a stem cell transplant I could expect a relapse in 3 to 12 months. They also insisted I go to Seattle for the transplant. Things have been moving fast. I will meet with the transplant people at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (Fred Hutchinson-U of W) on June 10th. It will mean relocating to Seattle for about two months with about 3 weeks or more of that as an inpatient at the U of W Hospital."
