What would you do if you only had six months to live and four small children to leave behind?
I was told that a woman living in the community I manage,Georgetown South was suffering from cancer. Her landlord thought that since I had cancer I would be able to give her advice and help. When I first met her, she told me that she was being treated for stomach cancer but she felt that the doctors weren't trying to cure her, just trying to control her pain. I went with Reyna to Culpeper yesterday where she receives weekly chemo treatments. I wanted the straight story from them. I hate what I heard. Reyna Torres Alatriste, mother of four children ranging in age from 3 to 11 has six to nine months to live. Her pain is going to get to the point where she will have to be heavily medicated. Reyna wants to believe in a miracle, but she also needs to be practical. She needs to taker her kids, all American citizens home to Izucar de Matamoros, Puebla, Mexico. There they will be raised by their grandmother who they have never met. Reyna is alone here except for her children. Reyna wants to believe that a miracle will happen, but she has come to realize that a miracle can happen here or in Mexico. She needs to take Yarizel (11), Rebecca (10), Marking (5) and Esther (3) home to meet their grandmother and be with her until she takes her last breath. I am trying to raise money that can be put into an account in Mexico to help the kids establish their lives there (school fees, uniforms, clothes, beds) and in truth probably also to pay for their mother's funeral. What I wish you could donate to this account are answers. Rather than money, can anyone tell me what to say to Reyna when she cries and asks how could God (Diosito lindo) want her to die and not see her children grow up, doesn't He know that her babies needs her, why did this have to happen to her. My answer is always the same that God has a plan and that He knew how you were going to die when she was born, that she will be in Heaven awaiting her children never to be separated again, that she has to trust that God will take care of her children. She wants to believe me, but then she looks at her children and just cannot imagine leaving them. Please help me to help her to take care of her children for the last time in the only way she can by leaving them money for their future even though that future doesn't include her.
