Help Gus Live!

Hello and thank you for visiting our page. Little Gus is a 2 and a half year old long haired black cat, our only cat and dearly beloved family member. Through unforseen circumstances Gus developed bladder stones without without showing any symptoms until he was suddenly very ill and was in pretty bad shape by the time we got him to the vet later that day. The procedures he required were very costly and we did what we could to provide him the best care without going too far into financial hardship.  We were able to get him cathaterized and flush out his bladder but unable to allow him an overnight hospital stay to give him the environment he needs to fight for his life which the vet recommended.
We were able to have him flushed out but having a cat at home cathaterized is messy and potentially harmful for Gus. We are giving him medicine and antibiotics and doing the best we can, but he needs hospital care. Bladder stones for a male cat can very quickly become fatal. And without being able to properly monitor him he is at risk of infection and much more worrisome bladder rupture, which is fatal and very painful.

We were hoping that once he got home we would be in the clear. But Gus has had a shaky recovery and we are in a very stressful and immediate situation. This is not simply a matter of health care, Gus is unfortunately in bad shape and he could very easily die.

We are looking at about $2000 to admit him to a 24 veternary hospital so that he can be properly cared for and monitored; properly hydrated with an IV and his bladder flushed regularly to ensure the stones are gone.

So in this hour of need we humbly turn to our communities for support. We are heavy-hearted in writing this, as we would never have imagined even yesterday to be in such a stressful, emotional and financial situation.
We love Gus more than we are properly able to convey right now. Any help anyone is able to provide would be so graciously appreciated. Our backs are against the wall and we would do anything to be able to help Gus back to a speedy recovery. If you are able to donate anything at all, we would be that much closer to be able to save our little Gus.

We are in immediate need of assistance. Monday is Family Day in Ontario and a statutory holiday and so we are forced to use 24 vet services.

Thank you for all of the support and love <3
