- I am making this for my father, Terry Stephens. He is a Navy veteran and is struggling financially due to a serious motorcycle accident he was involved in. On Jan 16th, 2026, while commuting to work, he was involved in a major motorcycle accident. He suffered an open book pelvic fracture, a bleed in his pelvis, a broken nose, and fractured nasal structures, and lost his bottom front teeth. He was transported to Banner Desert Hospital in Mesa, Arizona. There, he underwent surgery to stop the bleeding in his pelvis and repair the damage to his pelvis. He spent 2 days in ICU, 4 days in the trauma care center of this hospital, and another 10 days in an inpatient rehabilitation hospital where he learned to use a walker and wheelchair. Recovery is slow. Doctors tell us he will not be fully recovered for more than a year and a half. His injuries are severe enough that he cannot work for a couple of months or maybe longer. Unfortunately, he is the sole wage earner for a family of 5. My mother cannot work due to medical issues, my older sister has special needs and is mentally challenged, and my older brother is mentally challenged. We also have 4 dogs, all are rescues, who rely on him for a stable home. We have no savings; we were trying to get back on track, and now he has no vehicle to get to work once he is released to do so. With rent, utilities, and food costs, our monthly expenses are more than $5000 per month. I am not asking for long-term charity; he hates asking for anything, but he cannot afford to be homeless while he recovers. A couple of months or more of expenses would be more than enough to get us by until he can return to his job as an accountant. Thank you in advance to anyone who can help at all, in any form. It is greatly appreciated by my family and me; we need help getting through this chaos, and while we don’t like asking for help, sometimes you really don’t have a choice.
