Mother & Child Need Our Support

Donation protected

For those new to the campaign - the UK Border Agency forcibly and violently removed a mother and child who were seeking refuge in the UK from severe sexual and physical abuse, on Tuesday 15th September. We believe this was done on grounds that contravene the human and legal rights of both mother and child both of whom are extremely vulnerable. The child who was born in the UK has been taken to a country she has never lived in without being given the malarial treatment she needs, she has been snatched from her home, her school, her friends and the only life she has ever known. Her mother is a victim of rape, trafficking, violent abuse and torture who has scars on her body from the abuse she endured and suffers from PTSD, severe depression and anxiety.

They have been removed to a country where they are at risk of severe harm, further abuse and possible death. At this crucial time mother and daughter need your continued belief in their fight for justice. Can you give £10 today and share this appeal with ten of your friends and family?

The family are struggling to adjust to life alone in a different country, where every day they face a real fear for their safety. Mother is worried as her child is quiet and withdrawn; she hasn't been eating much and is losing weight. She isn't herself at all: feeling vulnerable in a country she has never lived in or visited before she was deported. The mother is worried that the traumatic experiences of their removal are stuck in her daughters mind – the child regularly mentions ‘those people who took us from our home, put us in the van and brought us on the plane.’ The daughter also asks when she can see her school friends again and is missing the comforts of her UK home, like rice crispies and her favourite toys. The mother is also worried about malaria, as they have both been bitten by mosquitoes lots of times.

The legal process of challenging the removal is well under way, however we do not know how long this legal process will take and the family continue to need our solidarity as they go through the legal stages to try to return to the UK where they can live in safety.

Fundraising is now moving to a new phase of continuing subsistence support for the family. Can you give £10 today and share this appeal with ten of your friends and family?

After a long search, the family have found more sustainable, safer accommodation paid for by the remaining funds raised by supporters. The mother has been searching for a suitable school, which has been difficult, meanwhile her daughter, who before the sudden removal had been enjoying the first days back after the summer holidays, is saying “I need school”.

We would like the family to be back in the UK soon, but there is no certain timeline for the legal process. We would like to raise enough funds to pay for schooling for the child, essentials for their home and to send a weekly subsistence amount for them to live on while the legal process is ongoing. We have itemised these costs below.

When we ask them how they are both coping, mother says “I'm trying, we are trying”. This family are bereft of immediate friends and family - we are their support, thousands of miles away. Let us try to support them again.

Please give £10 today. If you want pay outright for one of the items listed below that would be amazing. Additional funds would allow mother and daughter to buy clothing.

Home set-up costs
Beds = £148
Cooker = £57
House sundry items = £293

Weekly subsistence = £122

School and school transport = £350 for this term.

Thank you once again for your interest & support. We will post any updates via this page.
