This entire process has caught my family and I off guard... One week I'm in the hospital for my GallBladder, at the same time I find out I have cancer in right Lung, 2 weeks after I'm getting major surgery to get this cancer tumor removed before it spreads... We were just NOT READY for this, financially, emotionally and physically...
The surgery, Lobectomy, was Tuesday 7/30, and it went well throughout the 4.5 hours... It left me with a 9" incision... I spent 2 days in the ICU because I had a chest tube in my lung to keep it from collapsing... Now I'm trying to recover each day and SLOWLY get back to regular activities. The doctor told me I would be out of work for 4 to 6 weeks and now I can see why... My lungs are NOT where they used to be. I get short of breath very easily, even by talking. The pain is unbearable at times I'm trying to suck it up and NOT take the pain meds (opiods). I'm limited in what I can take for pain because I only have ONE kidney (I donated my left kidney to my beautiful wife in 2005) therefore I cannot take any type of anti-inflammatory like Motrin, Ibuprofen, Aleve, etc., as these can damage your kidney.
Since my family and I started this page the response has been awesome by friends and families. We've been able to raise 1/2 of our goal so far and we are SO GRATEFUL to you for every small, medium and large donations. Every dollar counts. We still need YOUR help, we have 1/2 way to go to make sure our expenses are covered for September.
