On the evening of November 28th, our mom Tyrena was found unresponsive and rushed to Illini Hospital. She was intubated and airlifted to OSF Peoria where she has since been on a vent and unresponsive. The doctors there are amazing and have been working day and night to find answers. She has been on many medications, fluids and had many tests ran. Her CT was normal, MRI was abnormal. She has a GI infection, blood infection and possibly a spinal fluid infection. Today she did open her eyes a bit and it looked like she was trying to focus on our faces. She is unable to follow commands such as "squeeze my hand". TODAY was a HUGE day!!! She opened her eyes still trying to focus on us as she did yesterday but today she nodded her head trying to answer yes and no questions! She has a VERY long road ahead of her and we have been taking turns being by her side so that when she does wake up she's not alone and afraid. Our dad has been driving back and forth (about an hour and a half each way) almost daily to be with her and to manage the household. He is low on PTO. We don't want him to have to make the decision between being by her side and going without pay or being away from her to keep the bills paid. No one know how long she will be in the hospital but from the sounds of it, it's going to be a long time. No one can predict the amount of hospital bills that will come in either. The money raised will be used for travel costs and hospital bills. No amount is too small. If you would rather donate a gift card for gas or food places that would be so helpful too! Thank you sooo much for all of your love and support! - Tara, Kristin, Jaimee, Cody
