TEAM TYLER ~Wheelchair lift for van

Tyler once was just like any other child. He loved playing baseball, swimming in a pool and doing just about anything. Then at age 9 Tyler was diagnosed with the cruel and terminal Juvenile Batten disease. Tyler is now blind, suffers from seizures and has lost most of his fine and gross motor skills. He is now wheelchair bound. It has become increasingly difficult to lift him in and out of our van and usually takes two people. Much of the time I am the only one helping him as my husband travels frequently. One slip could be catastrophic for any of us. We need to convert our current van into a wheelchair accessible one. Tyler is rapidly growing and at 5'9" and 140lbs he unfortunately is of no assistance in transferring him which adds even more weight for us to lift. Tyler is almost 13 and at the stage in this disease where we need a lot of medical equipment to assist him with everything including his ADLS, as well as a Hoyer Lift, new wheelchair, a stander, etc.  We need to convert our van and make it handicap accessible to transport him. The basic/standard conversion quote we received was $25,790. The expenses are starting to incur but we will do everything we can to make sure Tyler has the best quality of what he has left of his life. We want to be able to take him wherever we go! First and for most we need to ensure Tyler's safety; as well as not doing any further damages to our own bodies, as Tyler relies on us for many more physical daily tasks.
