Tyler's Cancer Treatment

$30,150 of $30,000 goal

Raised by 358 people in 5 months
This past week, my brother Tyler Jenson was diagnosed with Stage 3 Hodgkins Lymphoma. As you can imagine, my family and I are in a whirl of emotions, but we want nothing more than to get Tyler healthy and back doing the things he loves. The diagnosis came as a shock to us all. There were no warnings and he wasn't feeling sick. Instead, he was on the football field, tearing it up two days before he began his hospital stay. He will be beginning chemotherapy on Friday. I have made a GoFundMe to help my parents with the medical bills. If you can donate, that would mean the world, but even if you can’t, please keep him in your prayers. 33440018_1538522913134164_r.jpeg

Tyler is in Remission!

We met with Tyler’s oncologist today and she said he is in remission “with caution.” There is one lymph node at his trachea that is larger than they would like, but the PET CT Scan did not show any hypermetabolic activity (no signs of cancer). He will get a new PET CT scan in three months to confirm that there are no cancer cells and that the questionable lymph node hasn’t grown. He will have his port until then, unless it interferes with him throwing the Javelin . We are so relieved that he made it through his treatment and was still able to do many things he didn’t think he would be able to do. He is a tough kid and an inspiration to our family. Thank you to all of you for your prayers, love, and support.

It’s been 78 days since Tyler was diagnosed with Stage 3 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and he is fighting it like any new challenge he takes on, with great strength and determination.

We returned home last night from the hospital after Tyler’s 4th, and what the doctors have said, is his last round of inpatient chemo. Tyler will receive his final dose of chemo this Monday and he will have his Pet-Ct Scan on January 4. We are anxious to learn that he is cancer free and will not need radiation.

Tyler recently posted this on Twitter, “4 months ago they told me I would be too sick to leave the house, well folks, they clearly don’t know who I am.” Tyler has lost his hair and his body hurts, but he is determined to still make it to school, to the gym, and to the slopes when he is feeling good. After 3 cycles he knows what to expect, so he takes full advantage of the good days. He told us, he just wants to be 15 and do normal things. Tom and I, with the help of Hannah and Thomas and our wonderful friends, are trying to keep life as normal for Tyler as his body will allow.

When the doctors gave us Tyler’s diagnosis, they told us that half the battle would be staying positive and mind-strong and this would help keep his body strong. We had no idea how true that would be. Tyler has been determined to stay positive and continue to be that crazy, silly, fearless 15 year old he was before Cancer. Cancer will forever change who he is and who we are and how we perceive things. It has showed us the best in people and that we are not alone. We have so much love holding us up and we will forever be grateful to all of you.

My family and I are in shock by the generosity which we have received from everyone. We want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for the prayers, love, and support. All we want is for Tyler to be healthy and back doing the things he loves.

Tyler is feeling great and is in such good spirits that it seems unfathomable for him to be so sick. Earlier this week, Tyler had an operation to insert a double port into his chest. This allows the doctors to administer the chemotherapy and control the nausea simultaneously. His treatment will consist of a minimum of four rounds of chemotherapy on a 21 day cycle, in which 3 of those days he will be receiving the medicine and the rest recovering.

Tyler began his first round last night. Please keep him in your prayers. Again, thank you all so much for the continual support. It means more than you know.
