Tyler Davidson Recovery Fund

Tyler Davidson is the 35 year old husband of Krystal Davidson. He lives in Edmonton, Alberta and is an active mountain enthusiast. Tyler is an exceptional climber and works at Mountain Equipment Coop in Edmonton where he ensures other climbers are safely and properly equipped. Tyler records almost all of his climbs and uploads them to YouTube HERE.

On Tuesday November 29, Tyler was climbing with two friends when he suffered a freak accident while climbing a route called Kemosabe in the Waiparous Valley.

Tyler fell a distance of approximately 50 metres (165feet). Two of the ice screws he had placed while leading ripped out of the ice and he fell the entire pitch to the ground. His climbing partners (one of which is an emergency doctor) attended to his injuries for nearly two hours until members of the Kananaskis Country Public Safety Section arrived and made a perfect rescue.

Tyler suffered skull fractures and a broken pelvis from the fall. He was helislung from the mountain to an awaiting STARS Air Ambulance a couple valleys over. The STARS crew airlifted Tyler Davidson to the Foothills Medical Centre where he underwent emergency surgery to remove a portion of his skull so they could decrease the pressure in his head.

The CTV News report can be seen HERE.

Within the first 48 hours, doctors were sceptical of Tyler being able to survive the fall.

Now, four days after the fall, Tyler remains in the hospital’s ICU where he has exhibited positive signs including the ability to move his hands and legs on command, give a thumbs up and peace sign in good ol' Tyler fashion and even open one eye to see his wife today. She asked him if he could see her and he nodded to indicate that he indeed could.

We are praying for and seeing new miracles every single day, but we know that this isn't an overnight fix.

An injury like this can be a long and expensive trip. Expenses are already revealing themselves and will just become more as the days, months, and heaven forbid, years go on. We want to make sure that Tyler is able to recover without financial stresses and that Krystal can be there for him.

The family would be grateful for any financial support to ensure Tyler's full recovery.

Any donations that are not used by the family when Tyler makes a full recovery will be donated to the Foothills Hospital to continue being able to supply the exemplary medical services we have seen exhibited with Tyler's treatment.

Thank you.
