Tyanna is a compassionate, smart, effervescent, powerful, and vivacious young 17 year old girl who lives with her family in Atikokan, Ontario. She came into this world and the life of her family and loved ones weighing 4pounds 8ounces. Although she was born small, she was a real fighter! She’s never let anything stand in her way then or now!

Other than her hypersensitivity to dogs, Tyanna has had a healthy childhood. As mentioned, she’s always been the type of girl to never let anything step in her way from achieving her goals. For example: This past year Tyanna joined the Outers Program at the Atikokan High School and obtained her g1 drivers license. Two things she was excited and determined to accomplish.

This past July, Tyanna started having difficulty with her vision. Her eye sight started to cause her pain, headaches and dizziness. After just a short few weeks of dealing with this, her eyes started to become strabismus, because of this she had to stop practicing driving and hold off on completing her G2 drivers test. This was extremely tough for her. We all know how much that full licence means to us at this age. Tyanna was seen by doctors at the Atikokan General Hospital, Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre and London’s Sick Children’s hospital. A number of tests were completed and her symptoms were leading doctors to believe she may have MS (multiple sclerosis). In December 2017 Tyanna had a seizure one day while at school that resulted in having her sent to the Atikokan General Hospital. More tests where completed and it was decided that she needed to be flown to London Ontario by air ambulance for further testing. Once the testing in London were completed Tyanna and her mother were sent back home to wait for the results. During this wait time, Tyanna began to have more seizures while at school. It was decided by her teaches and parents that the best interest for Tyanna and her safety/wellbeing was to remain at home and to drop out of the outers program until she had more answers from her Paediatric neurologist in London. This was another ‘extremely’ difficult time for Tyanna. Her life was changing too quickly. She is now taking her ILC’s at home. She is feeling very distant from her peers and finding time away from them and her Outers Brigade very hard.

After a long road of dealing with many more seizures, appointments in Thunder Bay and trips to the ER, Tyanna was seen by her Paediatric neurologist in London where further testing was completed. After a week spent in London, Tyanna heard the words no young teenager wants to here, “you my dear have Epilepsy”. Since finding out her diagnosis and being prescribed two different medications, Tyanna’s seizures have been worsening. Since Thursday April 12th 2018, Tyanna has had 30 seizures and three trips to the local ER. She and her mother were due to fly to London on April 20th to see the Paediatric neurologist for a follow-up. They are now being flown by air ambulance once the weather is safe to fly in. Tyanna’s mother and grandmother have been doing everything they can to keep up with the cost of these out of town appointments/airfares but times aren’t always easy and the road is unexpected which finances aren’t always going to be readably available. Tyanna and her mother’s flight had already been booked for next Thursday and at this time (things are still being looked into) the flights are non-refundable as well as the hotel they had booked for the previous night in Thunder Bay. This has been a very long, emotional, frightening and heartbreaking time for both Tyanna and her family. As we all know, times like these are never easy and emergencies situations can cause us to become financially stuck at times and require us to have the funds to be prepared for the unexpected—gas, hotels, food, flights, (medications that are not fully covered) and other accommodations (also just recently a $1200 repair bill on their family vehicle that is used to transport Tyanna to out of town appointments and to get to and from the ER). So this is where I step in. My name is Tracy, the best friend of this mother as well as the adopted proud auntie of this incredibly special young woman. I am starting this gofund me page to ask for your help with the upcoming medical expenses for their precious baby girl and that you keep this beautiful young lady and her family in your prayers as they face this difficult time❤️ I thank you for taking the time to read her story and thank you in advance on behalf of us all, for your love, support and prayers❤️
