HAFF Haiti School Fund

$250 of $1,000 goal

Raised by 3 people in 43 months
HAFF,  The Haitian American Friendship Foundation, was founded in the early 1970's in the Central Plateau region in Northern Haiti. We are a 501(C)(3) charity, and fully tax deductible. Most of our current buildings were built in the 1980's and are in need of renovations and maintenance. Donations have been decreasing yearly and budgetary needs are outpacing our Income.  Our school provides a Christian, moral education to over 250 Haitian children in grades 7-13. We serve a poor community whose families could not be served without our support. Our donation base has decreased due to our elderly contributors passing on or finding they are unable to continue donating . We are in a situation where, unless we can raise funds to refurbish school buildings and housing, meet staff salaries and cover expenses, we will no longer function as effectively or possibly at all!!! .

We also provide dental services, a medical clinic, teacher education and summer conferences. Agricultural education and experimental growing are a part of our community outreach.

Please Help us educate a new generation of leaders who have an understanding of the needs of Haitians and will serve their communities. I am on the Board of Directors and am at your service for more details.

American visitors studying health, agriculture and education in Haiti watched as HAFF’s agricultural agent Millius Hilaire demonstrated the use of an A-frame level. A simple tool made from sticks, rags and a rock hung from a string, it can be used to help farmers lay out a level contour line for walls or ditches in order to control soil erosion on sloped ground typical of Haiti’s mountainous terrain. Millius has taught techniques like these to farmer groups in over 40 different communities for almost 20 years. Under his direction, farmers work together to implement these techniques on each other’s land.
