Twins On Tour

Donation protected
In early 2016, my twin sister Tracy was diagnosed with a very rare type of cancer called "Mesenchymal Chondrosarcoma".  She is one of three people in Australia that we are aware of that has been diagnosed with this horrible and incurable disease and the only one who's disease that has metastasised.

Since her diagnosis in 2016 my beautiful sister has endured many procedures and treatments including; chemotherapy, amputation of her right leg above the knee, removal of 6 metastises from her right lung, removal of her lower lobe of her left lung, radiation on a tumour near her aorta, chemo again for new metastises in her lungs and tumours in her upper thigh of her left leg (the good leg).   She then stopped chemotherapy to go on an immunotherapy trial, which proved to not work and went back on chemotherapy for treatment for her whole body and radiation of her upper left thigh in hope to stabilise the new tumours or even better to hopefully kill and rid her of the cancer for good.

There is unfortunately no specific treatment for her type of rare cancer, therefore she has had to go through and try many treatments and procedures to ensure she is still standing with us today.

As you could imagine, this has made the last 2 years incredibly stressful for my sister, myself and the rest of my family.

I have held off starting this fundraiser as I hate to ask for money from friends, family or even strangers, but I've had a couple of people encourage me to do so due to the circumstance and feel I am at a point where I do need the help to make this happen!

My wish for me and my sister is for us to be able to do some travelling together, whilst this brave warrior is still healthy enough to do so, however I have little to no funds available to go travelling with her due to changing careers last year in 2 x casual/freelance shift work industries and moving to another city a couple of hours away from my bestest friend.

My twin sister is also an amputee and has been on steroids for the past 6 months, her socket is currently ill fitting due to the fluctuation of weight of her upper amputated limb/stump and it can be painful at times for her to walk as her stump no longer fits well into the socket.  Unfortunately the steroids also stop her from being able to be casted for a new socket, as the steroids interrupt her bodies normal balance and makes her weight fluctuate too much.

She is also missing parts of her lungs due to surgery, which has caused her some breathing issues or breathlessness in walking long and short distances including up or down hills.  Coughing and breathing issues are currently trying to be maintained or reduced via steroids. Her prosthetic is also basic and limits her ability to safely walk or manouver herself quickly or to be able to easily move up or down stairs/hills.

Due to these factors, she will require some assistance on her travels, such as assistance with carrying or towing around her luggage including additional luggage, such as; crutches and possibly a wheel chair to assist her on daily activities to get around when she is unable to walk long distances and someone to lean on when she requires the safety net just to hold someones arm while walking.

Of course this is not the only reason, she would definitely love the company or a travel companion, as well and I'd love to be able to be there for her and make some wonderful memories with my sister whilst she is well enough to make them.

We are hoping to go this year.  The sooner the better, or as her Oncologist likes to say, "the best time to go is now, while you are healthy enough to do so"

We have a couple of friends who will be in the UK. One will be having her wedding ceremony in July and another friend is a backing singer for Justin Timberlakes the “Tennessee Kids” and will be touring in London around the same time and ideally we would love to make it for both friends events, however if we can't raise enough funds prior to then we'd definitely aim to get over there later in the year.

We would appreciate  any assistance to help make this wish a reality in making some memories whilst the time is right!
