Twin Kidney Transplant

Donation protected
Many of you have the privilege of knowing what an incredible, thoughtful, and compassionate person Amy Earley is. She is always putting others’ needs before herself and can brighten a room just by walking into it. Amy is a dedicated 1st grade teacher who puts her heart into helping her students succeed each and every day. Amy is currently in need of a kidney transplant and now is our time to give back to someone who has given so much to us.

1 in 9 Americans suffer from kidney disease and currently there are approximately 99,000 individuals waiting for a donor. Amy was first diagnosed with a kidney disease called IGA Nephropathy when she was in college. She formed this disease when she left strep throat untreated and it moved to her kidneys and damaged them. As a result, Amy’s kidney function dropped to 30%. For the past several years Amy has maintained a healthy lifestyle by making smart food choices and taking daily medications.  This past August as Amy was beginning her 13th year of teaching, she got strep throat. It took a few weeks to completely heal and afterwards she constantly felt weak and tired. In October, she found out that her kidney function had dropped significantly to 15% where she will need a transplant or will eventually need to be put on dialysis.
For anyone that knows how incredibly close Amy and Becky are, it should come to no surprise that Becky hasn’t thought twice about offering to donate one of her kidneys to Amy. Without hesitation, Becky volunteered to go through extensive testing to see if she is a compatible match.  Amy and Becky are in the final stages of making sure that Becky's kidney donation would be a successful transplant. They are hoping to schedule the transplant surgery this summer.  Amy has health insurance, but there are numerous expenses that her insurance will not cover. Transplantliving.org has estimated the total costs per person for a kidney transplant can add up to $262,900!

Amy is such a strong, selfless, and generous person and we would love to lighten the burden of all the medical expenses. Please consider donating in order to help Amy during this challenging time. If you cannot support Amy with a monetary donation at this time, please continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Amy is blessed with such an amazing support system and we greatly appreciate your help during this time.
