Ty Watson House Elevator Repair
One of the many services that AVHS provides is Ty Watson House, a beautiful heritage home overlooking the Alberni Inlet with four resident beds for respite and end of life care.
In this setting we work alongside Island Health nursing staff to ensure individuals, loved ones and their families are compassionately cared for with a focus on dignity and quality of life.
Our society recently experienced a serious financial hardship at Ty Watson House, when the residents’ elevator broke down.
As you can imagine, this type of specialized repair for the elevator took highly skilled trades experts several weeks to complete.
Despite our comprehensive insurance policy, the elevator repair was not covered, and the entire cost was $72,000.
These costs could not have been forecast in our yearly operational budget, and we need support from our community at this time to meet our shortfall.
We could not provide these services without the generous support of our community.
