Let's Save Dreamland Pool!

Donation protected
Dreamland Pool has been a historic landmark in Kenova, West Virginia since 1926.The pool itself measures 125 feet by 250 feet, and was once known as the largest public swimming pool east of the Mississippi River. Today, it is struggling to stay alive. I spent 6 summers working in the ticket office at Dreamland Pool and I know how important it is to the families in our community. Yes, Dreamland needs a lot of work especially to the bottom of the pool, but those improvements can't be made unless the funding is there. Kenova City Council voted down the motion made by Mayor Ric Griffith last night to give the pool an additional $50,000 on top of the usual start up amount to make the needed improvements to the pool. Instead they voted to give $15,000 in addition to the $35,000 they usually give to start the pool up. This will only provide a temporary fix and next year we will be faced with the same issues again. Let's come together as a community and SAVE OUR POOL!! If we can meet our fundraising goal of $50,000 we could raise enough money for the city to put in a new much needed concrete bottom on the pool for next season! ALL proceeds will go to the Dreamland Pool fund. Please spread the word and help us save our pool that we all know and love.
