Jason's Tumor Treatment

Hi, my name is Jason Carpio Lopez and I’m 22 years old. At the end of 2013 I was diagnosed with a Fibromatosis tumor located on my right elbow/forearm. It is currently Benign. Surgery for this tumor is out of the picture because of the very high chance of loss of function in my hand as told by my doctor. Over the last couple years I underwent chemotherapy. This meant that I had to go to the hospital on a weekly basis, while still attempting to complete school. Sadly, the drug did not work and instead of shirking, the tumor grew. My doctor had suggested a drug called Nexavar Sorafenib (which is not covered by OHIP) which would cost about $4500 a month for who knows how long. My insurance company wouldn't pay for the drug so I opted for a clinical trial drug because the other drug was something I could not afford. I stayed on the clinical trial drug for about a little more than a year as it stopped the growth of my tumor, but sadly it did not shrink it. I was forced to stop because I was experiencing some intolerable symptoms like massive cysts appearing on my body. I’m now running out of time and options to treat my tumor. Since stopping, the tumor has started to grow again causing pain. My doctor says if worse comes to worst, amputation for the arm may be the last option.

My Goal is to raise $65,000, which should be able to cover just about a little more than years’ worth of the drug.
