My niece, Kayla Ward, is a 31 year old, self employed, licensed esthetician. She has been working hard and building clientele to achieve her dream of becoming a small business owner for a decade. She achieved her dream and opened her salon/spa in September 2016. Very recent bad news is now putting her hard won dream in jeopardy.
She was diagnosed with an aggressive tumor in her upper left chest cavity last week. She had began losing feeling in her left arm, but initially dismissed it thinking it would probably resolve on its own. Then she began to lose strength and mobility and started to feel shocks of pain radiating in her shoulder and down her arm. She went to see a doctor and they discovered a very large tumor attached to her spine and the back of her upper left lung. The tumor is located in a very difficult location for surgeons to access and with the first biopsy attempt they failed to get a viable sample to determine if it is cancer. Kayla will be going in for another biopsy attempt this week.
Our family is starting this gofundme account to help Kayla cover expenses while she is unable to see clients. Her business is located in Palm Desert, CA and she has had to turn away clients ahead of the busy spring break season due to her illness.
