 My name is Austin Guidry, I am currently attending college in Sacramento California. I was raised in Northern California my entire life. I've seen the horrors of other tradigies and have always felt deeply touched by them. However I've never felt the true pain and fear of a diaster. I awoke from a frantic phone call from Christopher in the middle of the night saying "call all your friends and family, a fire is headed to their home". My first thought was... everyone?... How could a fire affect so many people in a city??? I took the warning seriously and checked in with family and friends. I'm still in shocked from what I had heard from them. There's no way to describe the feeling of how hopeless you feel being away from loved ones during a diaster. When you hear the fear in their voice, When they tell you their unsure if their home is still standing or not, When you hear sirens and alarms in the background of every phone call, when their neighborhood has been forced to evacuate, When your parents tell you that ashes from a childs coloring book are raining upon them. Pictures and videos are sent of city I lived in are unrecognizable. My mother, sister, and brother-in-law places of work burned down. The Durands lost their home, cars, personal belongings . Neighborhoods and buisnesses I thought were safe from the fire no longer stand.

It truly is a unbelieve experience that I have yet to accept. Im only trying to take the progessive stance and help those in need. A diaster like this could happen to anyone at anytime. I can't stand living in comfort while those who I care about suffer. However together we can all make a difference by contributuing!!!
