Tsering Yangdol is a kind and loving 26-year-old special-needs Tibetan who resides in a Tibetan Refugee Settlement in Leh Ladakh, India. From birth, Tsering was a special needs child and was unable to finish her 7th year in school. Due to her health conditions, she has been living at home unable to attend school or work.
She shares a home with her 5 siblings who are all in school, and a sixth sibling who is in Vikas (Tibetan army). Her hardworking mother is a laborer, and her dedicated father is a seasonal taxi driver. Coming from a low-income family, Tsering Yangdol is currently fighting to survive and her family is struggling to find the means to support her.
In August a local hospital in Ladakh found that Tsering had 2 failing kidneys and transferred to New Delhi for further treatment. There, Tsering was diagnosed with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) and is now completely dialysis-dependent. Her doctors estimate a cost of 10 to 15 lakhs (USD $21,127) for her surgery alone in the AIIMS government hospital, where she has to wait 1-2 months to even get admitted. During her wait, she needs dialysis 3x a week (INR 27,000 or USD $380) not including accommodation, food, and other expenses.
In order to save some money and pay for everything Tsering needs, her mother and sister have decided to donate their own kidneys, if they are a match. Unfortunately, the testing to see if they are compatible is a very long and costly procedure.
The goal for saving Tsering Yangdol's life on this page is $10,000, with about $3,040 that will go directly to her dialysis treatment for a wait-time of 2 months until her surgery. The remaining $6,960 will go directly to paying off her hospital bills that cover the costs of her stay, and food. Any money that is left over will be saved up for her surgery.
