Trying to catch up after the fires

During the Sonoma County Fires last year, we opened our home to friends and strangers alike ( pets too ) who lost everything, who were evacuated from their homes and unable to return and who lost power in their town our neighborhood. All were able to sleep, shower or bathe, do laundry, cook, relax, cry, laugh, hug, receive love and comfort. The wonderful people at Sheltons kept us stocked with tooth pastes, brushes, soaps, lotions, laundry supplies, etc. It was amazing. Still makes me heart swell.
We did not think about what it would cost later. All we could think about was helping as much as possible.
When our city bills started coming ( electric, water and sewer) in reflecting the usage, we were startled when we opened them. Some lovely Hippos helped us through Christmas. We have never been able to catch up.
Our city monitors our usage during the winter months, to come up with the rate you will pay for the coming year. This was NOT our normal usage. This was the usage of many people from many towns in crisis and in need. Most of them strangers to us. My rate for the year is nearly triple what it is normally. It will remain so until next year, and it is hurting. I asked if they could please use our usage from the previous year, because that is our NORMAL usage. I got a hard No. That's all I wanted. Not money back, or anything credited to me. Just a fair rate for what we actually use during the year.
I really want to get caught up. I really want this monkey off my back.
To pay off whats owed which is $512.00 and have some left over to cover the next one.
If you are able, and willing to help, we would REALLY appreciate it. Anything helps.
