True Mirror Company, Inc. produces the True Mirror(r), the only optically perfect mirror that reflects you without reversing left and right.   You see yourself as you are, not backwards.

The reason for such a mirror is both simple and profound:  When you make eye contact with yourself, it really is you looking back!  Your expressions, which convey thoughts and emotions are properly reflected, with the meaning of the expression intact.  You can actually interact with yourself in real time as you are, as we see and interact with you.  An entirely different being to you, and yet the true you that you are.

Backwards, you have been interacting with a literal doppelganger - someone that looks like you but isn't.   Someone who is often more static, more serious, more self-critical than any of the people who know you would report.  Someone that absolutely is missing your best expression, your natural smile.  Impossible to create in a mirror for more than a few seconds, yet the smile stays and actually grows in a True Mirror.

As a company, True Mirror has been making these mirrors since 1992, sending hundreds of them every year to many countries and states, and yet self-sustainability continues to be elusive.   The response is so conditional on the individual that it's been exceedingly difficult to gain traction in the marketplace, which strives for conformity.  Indeed, the True Mirror challenges one of the most ingrained elements of our self-image - the person in the mirror -and says there is a much better, true version that is knowable because it is physically correct!  People need to be educated about this concept, this possibility, and even how the mirror has been messing with all of us, even though it’s the most common and "normal" experience in everyone's lives.

2018 has been good - with a steady production of smaller mirrors, plus the optics on the larger ones are good enough to be included in world class science museums, Perot Museum and The Exploratorium, plus the Illusion Museums around the world.

Just last week, the first-ever college level art class drew self-portraits using the True Mirror.  Comparing them side by side with their previous self-portraits was stunning.  All had sculptural presence and real communication visible in their eyes.  In contrast, the standard self-portraits were mostly flattened and generally expressionless.  These drawings capture the entire story of what happens to people every day in the traditional mirror!  It’s not usually so obvious, but it’s clear the artists saw it.  When available, I will post them.

Funds will be used to support all the balls I have in the air running this business and as a bridge towards more funding (It really needs a much higher investment that I'm working on manifesting).    For 25 years I have self-funded this effort to both create the perfect optics, figure out what is going on, create a production line that has never stopped, and share it with the public.  There have been many amazing milestones and areas of successes.  But regardless of 25 years of my day-job's spare funds (computer consulting), it simply hasn't been enough to ever grow the business. Lately, there is no day-job to fund anything; True Mirrors are the only income for the last 4 months.  Which is a good thing: Its forcing my hand to, gracefully I hope, ask for your help to grow to the next level.   It  validates this project as bigger than me, which it absolutely is!  And it will be a first step towards fully funding this company, where our mission is:

"Give people their own truth so they may know and love themselves more fully"

We believe  this will bring good changes to individuals, and in direct consequence, will help change the  world in a positive and beautiful way!   Thank your for helping me build my bridge.

Thank you!

College Art Class completes first round of Self-Portraits with the True Mirror,

Instructor reports: "The expressions in the True Mirror portraits were generally more intense, but not for every student. The class agreed that the biggest difference is that the True Mirror reflects the three-dimensionality of the head more. The self portraits drawn using the True Mirror consistently have mores sculptural presence." We will post results after getting releases.

We rented them 20 True Mirrors to keep things under their budget, but after this one class, the professor said they want to buy them. It's a brand new pipeline to get the True Mirrors out in public, and especially because I believe the art world gets the True Mirror. Self-portraits will begin expressing that to the rest of us. (See my blog post about one artist who painted a smile for her first time http://www.truemirror.com/self-portrait-using-true-mirror/).

This is just one of many True Mirror projects that could benefit from promotional dollars. Every art class may eventually want one or more...reaching them through word of mouth from rentals is possibly the best marketing. Funding would go towards building a stable of rentals, and a small social media campaign
