Trudi Flangas and Family Lymphoma Fund

Donation protected
Hello, We know that you are all bombarded with daily requests for donations online for various issues and reason that tug at our hearts and we never thought we would be writing our own earnest plea for your support for our beautiful sister Trudi Von Tobel Flangas but alas we are.  Please read her story and give if you can.

If you know Trudi then you know she was happily married to her husband and our dear friend Albert Flangas when she gave  birth to her twin girls 9 years ago  after two years of in vitro treatments.  Along with her son Zach,  the girls completed their lovely family  They were on top of the world and then the bottom fell out.

Albert was diagnosed with throat cancer.  Over a three year battle he fought valiantly to triumph over this deadly disease.  It was  very rough road and Trudi cared for her new babies and her son as well as being by Albert's side 24 hours a day, on the road to California and Texas, for treatments,  in and out of the hospital and at the end at home.  We have never seen anyone care so completely and selflessly for another as she did for her husband.  Tragically, the love of her life,  Albert,  lost his battle with cancer four years ago.

The loss was unbearable for her, she was a young widow with four year old twin girls Isabella and Arianna  and an 18 year old son, Zach.  The family business had deteriorated as they fought to keep Albert alive and she was left with a financial mess.  We all watched as her normally effervescent personality seemed to lose its light and a darkness took over.  She did all she could to keep her family together and make a new life for her children without their father.

As time went by she  became thinner, prone to colds and flu, tired, and reclusive.  Finally in March of this year, we insisted she go to the hospital to get checked out where she was diagnosed with a rare form of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.  Since March 2019 she has spent over 6 weeks in the hospital, had her spleen removed, received many blood transfusions and treatments.  She has had pneumonia and sepsis and is now home and has begun a three month span of chemotherapy  and immunotherapy this week.  It seems unfathomable that she and Albert should have to fight the same awful battle but that is just the way it is.

Trudi is used to giving to others, through hers and Alberts work with local charities like, The Boys and Girls Club, Opportunity Village, Shade Tree Shelter, the Greek Orthodox Church and many more.  They were always the first to give to others when they were in need.

Now she needs our help.  Her hospital bills are in the millions and there is more treatment ahead.  The children need counseling to deal with the multiple traumas they have been witness two with both of their parents being gravely  ill and the loss of their father.   Trudi needs to get a second opinion as her form of cancer is rare and unpredictable but much of that will not be covered by her insurance.

Our sister is one of the most loving and delightful people we know.  She is a great friend, a loving daughter, and an amazing sister.  No one should have to deal with so many seemingly insurmountable events in their life and we would ask you to please considered donating to this fund so at least she can have some well being about her financial obligations while she is battling cancer for her self and her young family.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and God Bless You.
