Eighty-four year old Dean Troutman to set off on a 700 mile quest.

But first the backstory.  

In 2011 Dean Troutman purchased 5.75 acres with plans to establish a park for the Princeville community in memory of his late wife, Dorothy (Peggy) Troutman. Dean donated the land and additional funds to a newly established non-profit organization whose sole purpose is to establish and maintain Troutman Park. Since the park project was started, an additional $60,000 has been raised by the Princeville community to help with the park’s development.  The park currently boasts a Little League ball field, a football/soccer field, walking trail, picnic pavilions and a concession/restroom facility. But there is still much to do. Dean's plans include a playground, activity stations along the walking trail, water fountains, scoreboards & bleachers for the ball fields, enclosed dugouts, blacktop for the parking lot, and landscaping.

Mr. Troutman is a generous man who is willing to do whatever it takes to see the quest to honor his wife completed.  To reach his goal Dean has come up with a plan. On April 21, 2015, eighty-four year old Dean Troutman will set off on a 700 mile quest. He plans to complete Troutman's Trek in approximately 75 days.  Hoping to walk about 9 miles a day across the state of Illinois, he plans to include among his many stops the location where he and his wife met and were married. Dean's hope is to raise enough money through pledges and donations to complete the park and to honor Peggy for generations to come.

Troutman Park is a nonprofit corporation located in Princeville, Illinois. Charitable donations to this organization are deductible. The organization IRS foundation code is a 170(b)(1)(a)(vi) organization, which indicates it receives a substantial part of its support from a governmental unit or the general public.
