Refugee Fundraiser 2018

Donation protected
Our Hicks Honors College Philanthropy class at the University of North Florida is dedicated to raising money for the refugee population in Jacksonville, Florida. Specifically, our Philanthropy class is dedicated to raising funds for large refugee families with small children and multiple dependents. This year, our goal is to raise $1500 for incoming families seeking refuge in Jacksonville from the Congo, often coming with nothing and needing assistance to get settled and start work. Within 90 days of coming to the United States these families are charged thousands of dollars by the U.S. government, and families can be charged double or triple depending on the number of dependents.

All funds will be donated to Lutheran Social Services which will provide financial aid to incoming refugee families and directly accommodate refugee families with small children. These families are in need of immediate funds in order to pay for basic necessities such as rent, food, and transportation. The purpose of this fundraiser is to ensure the Congolese refugee families with young children coming to the United States in October are able to pay for their initial 90 day necessities.

Any donation would be greatly appreciated by not only our class, but the refugee parents and children who need your assistance. Thank you!
