Tristan's Recovery Fund

A smart friend suggested I give this a try. Tristan developed a debilitating leg and hoof disorder called laminitis. Without immediate attention a horse can need to be euthanized.  He was diagnosed 11/29/18 and put on strict stall rest with deep bedding and ice wraps on his legs 24/7. He also was found to have a very high insulin level. All this required repeated, frequent vet visits that involved radiographs (X-rays), sedation, strict change of diet, repeated blood tests and lab reports. I never asked how much, price was no object to get him through this. He remained in his stall for 2 months. Thank God for the Nickersons where he is boarded and Kalu who works there doing above and beyond to see that the vet's instructions were followed. He was on a bunch of medication and anti inflammatory drugs which had to be given by syringe and his hay soaked. I finally good no longer ignore the cost of this on the credit card I used. It knocked my socks off and the payment is too high. 

During the whole ordeal Tristan remained happy and perky. He still wanted to throw his football to me from inside his stall.  He has a special personality. He's an 8 year old Arabian I have owned since he was a year old. He is very special and I love him a lot.

The real good news I just received is that his high insulin level which was 200+ at the beginning of this is now down to 39! His weight was 1250, and is now down to 950. He has special shoeing that will continue to help his hooves get better and better. He now is running with other horses and I am riding him again.  

Now if I can get this amount I owe down to something more reasonable, I can move forward without feeling in a panic.
