Trip to Fiestas de la Candelaria
Greetings! We are TusuyPeru! Since the formation of our dance group in 2010, we have studied and performed Peruvian cultural dances under the guidance of our knowledgeable instructor, Fabiola Serra. We participate in numerous cultural events, such as World Rhythms Festival in Seattle, Leavenworth International Dance Festival, and Northwest Folklife Festival, as well as informal gatherings and small-scale events. We love what we do, and honestly that is an understatement! Through dance, we are able to share the rich and colorful traditions of Peru with the public, and we are proud to do it!
Which is why we are asking for your help! It is our goal to perform at the Virgin of Candelaria Feast (Fiesta de la Virgen de la Candelaria) in Puno, Peru next year, 2018. This week-long celebration is arguably the largest and most important cultural event in all of Peru! An estimated 15 thousand musicians and 50 thousand dancers participate, and we hope to be among them!
The funds raised will cover the cost of airfare, lodging, and costumes for eight of us dancers. We appreciate any and all contributions!
