Tri-ing By 50 website is launched!

Tri-ing By 50 began in the summer of 2016 as an awareness-building and ambassador outreach for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia Clinic. Since that time everything has grown so much that I am asking for help to cover expenses related to hope-building for those that have Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH). In addition, I am advocating and awareness-building to the public about the rare genetic disorder that affects around 1 in 10,000 births.

Why I am doing this? The answer is simple: I have CAH!

How am I doing this? That answer is a little more involved. I am fully active on social media spreading the word through my blog , Instagram and Facebook . These updates and posts are about my life and training for IRONMAN triathlon related events. Recently, I participated in the 2017 IRONMAN 70.3 Augusta. It was an incredible experience with so many people asking me about Hello Kitty on my back. Hello Kitty (HK) is my training and racing partner. During the race and afterwards so many people have asked me why I carry her. The word of CAH was spread far and wide.

Another way that I am hope-building, advocating and awareness-building is speaking and appearing at camps, conferences and events. In 2016, I visited Painted Turtle Camp for CAH Warriors and their families in California. In 2017, I spent a weekend at Camp Cortisol in Alabama. The parents were amazed by what I am doing physically. They are not aware that people with CAH can live active lives, so I provide that hope. One parent told me, “I can now see the future for my son!”

Why am I asking for monetary help?

It is becoming expensive to continue Tri-ing By 50. Training and competing in triathlon and running  events is expensive. I have raced Tobacco Road Marathon in Cary, North Carolina and Mountains to Main Street 70.3 Triathlon in Greenville, South Carolina. There have been numerous other races along the way. I am currently planning  my late-summer, early fall plans. There is equipment, entry fees and travel expenses. Every moment of training and participating isin the name of CAH.

There is much I want to do outside triathlons for CAH. As I mentioned I travel to events to speak about and provide a face for CAH. There are a couple of events on my calendar that will need funding to make sure I can travel to them. I also want to establish an even greater online presence beyond social media with a website.

Donations to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles CAH Clinic and CARES Foundation (a nonprofit organization committed to improving the lives of families and individuals affected by Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia). Other organizations would receive donations as funding allows.

In order to continue, Tri-ing By 50 would appreciate any help that may be provided. Please, consider making donations in any amount. It all adds up and helps provide hope, awareness and advocacy for CAH.

Please help me on my journey!

Thank you in advance! It is truly appreciated.
