Trek Fucci's Journey

We would like to officially introduce ya'll to our son, Trek Michael Fucci. Felicia gave birth on Tuesday, October 23, 2018. Trek's name means "A Long Journey". It was later discovered that Trek was born with six (6) heart defects. We were completely blindsided. (Note: neither Mark or I have any family history of heart defects. Nor, did Felicia carrying Trek have anything to do with it.) Trek had open heart surgery approximately two (2) months ago at Ochsner Main by Dr. Benjamin Peeler. His heart is doing great! However, chest tubes were placed on each side of his stomach, due to fluid (Lymphatic System). He had numerous surgeries/procedures (Pleurodisis on his right lung, which it worked, and then on his left lung, in which it didn't work.) We were advised of the only Lymphatic Specialist in the world was Dr. Y. Dori, at Children's Hospital in Philadelphia CHOP). After 3 months in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at Oschner Main Hospital, we were flown, via AirMed to Chop on Wednesday, January 23rd 2019. Trek had an eight (8) hour procedure in which a dye was sent through his Lypmhatic system to see where exactly it was leaking from. We later learned that none of his Lymphatic vessels were connected to his veins. Trek will be having a big surgery on Wednesday, February 6th, in attempt to connect his left Lymphatic vessel to his left neck vein. (Note: this fluid is the only thing keeping him at the hospital.) We know everyone has shown their love and support throughout our ENTIRE journey, so we had to swallow our pride to do this. Thursday, January 31st was my last day of paid time off. Now, we are on F.M.L.A. (Family Leave Act-Time without pay). We are ultimately living two (2) separate lives, New Orleans and Philadelphia.
