Treetop Country Aquaponics Project!

   Treetop Country is an International Volunteer Project and a legally recognized Foundation in Northern Thailand which recruits volunteers from all over the world to teach English, build sustainable food systems, and experience the beauty and kindness of village culture in Wiang Pa Pao, Thailand!

   We are teaming up with a sustainable farming project out of the USA, called Seed Aquaponics (www.seedint.com), to build an Organic Aquaponics system on our project grounds this summer!

The benefits of the Aquaponics system are:

1. It will reduce water usage by 90% compared to traditional soil gardening methods, making this a sustainable and environmentally friendly system!

2. It allows vegetables to grow two times as fast as soil gardening methods and will provide a massive surplus of food to provide families in the village with free nutritious food!

3. The surplus of fish and vegetables that are created from the efficiency of the system will be sold at the local market to provide a source of income for families and school children in need!

   We are 100 percent committed to improving the quality of life for people in Wiang Pa Pao and we are planning on going ahead with this project at the beginning of June 2015.

The construction of the system has it's costs (hiring labour, buying materials, funding to get the engineers/aquaponics students to Thailand) and thus we are hoping that people like you will contribute with a donation and make this dream a reality for our village!

Adding to the meaningful impact of this project is the recent death of Jan Meechai, better know as "Paw" to all of the volunteers and visitors to Treetop Country. He was the father of Treetop Country founder, Sasi Meechai, and was the inspiration for the Foundation's creation. His kind spirit and pride in his beautiful little village will live on forever at Treetop Country as we dedicate the Aquaponics project to him.
