Tree Planting for a Healthier Australia

Donation protected

Drought and desertification are two of the biggest issues currently
effecting the Australian continent.

Agriculture has been in steady decline for at least 70 years. There has been an even sharper
drop since the millennial drought that lasted for a decade,
which was frustratingly followed by flooding and then another drought in the Murray Basin.
This has lead to less people to care for the land, an epidemic of suicide in rural areas, and it also
threatens Australia's future food security.

Revegetation is a proven method of improving conditions in drought
effected areas. I am trying to raise funds to plan a small scale
revegetation project, in the hope of developing the skills and
knowledge necessary for future larger scale revegetation projects.

Any and all donations help. If you don't have money to donate, but if you would like to donate plants,
pots, organic water retention crystals, or  your time when it comes time to plant, please email me and I
hope we can arrange something.

Together we can make a brighter future for all Australians.

UPDATE: WE HAVE A LOCATION

I have been in touch with Angela from the Kerang Landcare Network, and she is very excited about
the idea of more people planting trees. Kerang is home to the Wemba Wemba people. It is located
277 kms NNW of Melbroune, and sits on the Loddon River, with the Murray River only 25kms away.
The local history museum on 17 Museum Drive looks appropriately located and interesting.

Angela is putting me in touch with the local seed bank, and she is also going to try and link us in with
four other possible activities happening in the area. In the coming weeks I am going to head up to Kerang and meet with Angela, do some seed collecting, visit the seed bank, and bring back some tube stock that I will take care of until planting time comes. If anyone has access to Eucalyptus largiflorens seeds feel free
to start raising them now. I will also distribute seeds for people to germinate and raise until the time
comes to plant.

Planting time will not be until March next year, as if we plant the trees before Summer we are likely to
lose many of them to heat and dry conditions. One of the most labour intensive parts of any kind of
planting is of course the watering. Luckily for us, Kerang already have a watering program for the
planting activities that are already being arranged, and by joining in with them, not only will we be part of a larger area of effect, they will also do the watering for us!

I will be in touch again soon with more news. And thanks so much to everyone for their support and
interest so far. What better way to make a difference than to do something as intrinsically and
extrinsically satisfying as growing things with leaves?

Sincerely excited regards,

Adam H
