Treatment for Tonka

This is my handsome boy Tonka. He is a 3 year old pitbull mix, and he has been diagnosed as heartworm positive.

Last year, we tried the "slow kill" method (Iverheart and Doxycycline) and it did not work.
We now need to try the "fast kill" method (Immiticide shots) as soon as possible.
This is an extremely high risk method, as it can lead to a fatal pulmonary embolism. But it needs to be done as it is the only chance we have to save his life.
The treatment consists of two shots given 24 hours apart. He then needs to be kept confined for 4-6 weeks as any exercise or excitement will naturally result in an increased heart rate, which can then cause the heartworms that the medicine is breaking up to speed through his bloodstream, causing clogged blood vessels and ultimately death.
This will be a long, tough road as he is a very energetic dog, true to his breed, but he is the love of my life and I cannot stand the thought of losing him so young. He finally got his chance (I am his 3rd adopter) and I want to do everything in my power to make sure he doesn't lose it.
Unfortunately I do not have the funds to support the cost of his treatment. I have been trying to sell my car to get the money to pay for this, but it needs done ASAP so I don't have the time to wait on a sale.
The cost of treatment is going to be roughly $800.00 - this could increase if there are complications, and there will be costs associated with follow up exams and aftercare. I have set the goal at $1,000 - if by some miracle we meet or exceed this amount, whatever is left after his treatment will go directly to A Little Bit Of Snuggles, a rescue organization located in New Kensington, PA so they can continue to rescue pups like my Tonka.
