Treatment for Joanne Rout Lenihan

Donation protected
As many of you know, Joanne (Rout) Lenihan was diagnosed last September 2018 with a Grade Two Astrocytoma in her Left Temporal Lobe. Because of the location, the tumour is inoperable. In January of this year, Joanne started her treatment and went through 30 sessions of radiation and six months of chemotherapy. In July she had an MRI and found out that both radiation and chemotherapy did not work and that the tumour had grown, was aggressive and no longer acting like a grade two Astrocytoma. Joanne then tried another round of chemotherapy, of a different type. Soon after, September-October, 2019, Joanne was hospitalized with a blood infection and a life threatening heart infection, which she now continues to treat.

At the end of October, 2019, Joanne had her most recent MRI, which showed, once again, that the chemotherapy has not been effective. The tumour has rapidly grown and is now acting like a Grade 4, Glioblastoma. Joanne was told chemotherapy will no longer be continued.

Joanne, 42, continues to remain positive, as always, and is ready to continue to fight this, for her husband, Ken Lenihan, her two boys, Zack (11) and Carter (8) and herself.

She is going to now try an alternative treatment and will be working with a doctor in the United States. Joanne and Ken will be travelling to U.S. where she will be receiving treatment in an effort to fight this terrible disease.

As you can imagine, the costs are significant.

We now ask you, family and friends, for your continued love, prayers, support and assistance to help towards her new treatment plan and in making this journey a little easier for Joanne and her family.

Your contribution is an important step in helping Joanne access treatment.

Our goal is to reach $10,000.

A poker tournament has also been organized for November 30th at the Timber Lounge in Halifax. Poker for Joanne. All proceeds will be given to Joanne and her family. However, in order to make this tournament a success, we also need prize donations for the winners. If you or someone you know would also like to donate a prize for our tournament, please reach out.
