Anyone that knows Travis, knows what a kind, gentle soul he has. At first look you notice his signature blue mohawk(s). Then it's the smile. His smile can light up a room and his laugh is sure to make you crack a smile and laugh along. His kind and caring personality is what makes him win a place in so many hearts. It is for these reasons that he has so many people to support him and asking how they can help. This is what prompted us to establish this GoFundMe account. For friends and family to contribute to what is bound to be, extremely large medical bills.
The back-story: In mid-November Travis went to the doctor with severe side pains. After several weeks, with different doctors visits and blood/bone marrow tests, November 30th, Travis received the news that he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) with a Philedelphia chromosome factor. The chromosome factor makes it more difficult to treat, requiring additional medication and most likely, more time in treatment.
Travis has already started medication to keep his blood counts level, but just learned that his insurance does not cover the medication and the cost is $12,000 for a 30-day supply. This is a medicine that he could possibly have to take long term, even for life. The medical offices have requested help from the pharmaceutical company and the final cost has not been determined, but it is bound to be high.
The medication is just the first step. After the first of the year he will start chemotherapy treatment. Each treatment will require a week stay in the hospital, with a few days out and then return for the next. When the chemotherapy is completed, Travis will undergo a bone marrow transplant at City of Hope hospital and will be admitted for a minimum of a month, possibly longer.
As you can imagine, the medical costs are going to be tremendous and that is where we are asking you for help. Travis is starting the fight for his life and our goal is to take some of the financial burden off of his shoulders so that he can focus on what is important...KICKING CANCER'S ASS!
